Itinerary:

Day 1 - Arrival day

I will be picking you up from the airport, we'll figure out exactly when dependent on when the flights arrive. This will be our orientation and meet and greet day. We will have dinner together, talk about our plans for the workshop, and share other important information before the workshop begins. If time permits it we'll head out for a sunset shoot.

Days 2-6 - The Adventure

Over the course of the next 5 days, we will be hiking, adventuring, and photographing our way around the Faroe Islands. At this time of the year we will have about 50/50 Day/Night. The sun rises at about 6:50 AM and sets about 6:10 PM . We will schedule each day dependent on the weather, which is known to be unpredictable no matter the season but prepare to be out from dawn till dusk. We have a list of locations we want to cover, but no fixed itinerary as we improvise to optimize the experience. One of the first days I will share my presentation on camera settings and composition to get all up to speed, and I will, of course, be available with tips, tricks, and different points when we are on location. On our last evening of the workshop we will be having our farewell dinner together as a group, and share one last meal and drink together.

Day 7 - Departure day

This will be our goodbye day. During this day we will be driving everyone to the airport to catch their flights.

- 6 nights of lodging - Based on single occupancy. Breakfast included at the hotel.

- Transportation - All transportation during the workshop, (as well as to and from the airport ).

- Instruction - I will be working with each attendee, making sure they are not only going home with photos they are proud of, are learning and growing during the trip.

What's NOT included:

- Food and drinks during the trip (breakfast included at the hotel).

- Travel expenses to and from the Faroe Islands.

- Travel Insurance.

Physical requirements

From a physical standpoint, there will quite a bit of hiking on this trip. Hikes reach anywhere from short yet steep hikes to around 7 miles round trip yet relatively flat. The trails can be uneven and slick in some places. For this reason, those with heart issues, knee or leg issues, or any other problems that prohibit longer hike ability, will have a difficult time with this workshop. These hikes are very much worth the effort, but it is of UTMOST importance you have a proper physical fitness to walk in mountains! If any location is out of your comfort zone, you’re more than welcome to shoot another location, stay at the hotel and rest, or wait until we get to another more comfortable location for you.

Photography requirements

From a photography skill level point of view, everyone is welcome! There is no need to be an advanced photographer by any means. We usually have a good mix of mostly intermediate photographers, a few advanced, and a few beginners.

What to Bring:

- Winter clothing - it could be snowing, be frosty and will be very cold.

- Hiking boots with ankle support.

- Crampons for walking on ice.

- Camera (obviously) and spare batteries as they will soon go down in the cold.

- Tripod.

- Filters if you have them (but not necessary).

- Drone (if you have one).

- Phone. You can buy a sim-card at the airport.

What the trip is like

Before the trip, I'll send out e-mails with additional information, such as a more specific list of equipment and clothing. I will also ask for arrival and departure information and the signing of a waiver.

During this trip, we will be photographing epic sea cliffs, sea stacks, immense waterfalls, quaint villages, sea birds, scenic fjords, and much more.

Weather will play a HUGE role in this workshop. I will be monitoring weather patterns closely, which will have a large impact on each day's itinerary. For that reason our itinerary will be very flexible, giving us the best possible situation for going home with the best images possible.

This is not a lazy vacation. This is serious, sleep-when-you’re-dead style photography. We will most likely be shooting all day from early morning through sunset and potentially at night to capture some auroras (although the chance of this is very low).

Each day is different. If we are given dramatic storm clouds, our shooting hours can be greatly extended through the day. Also, know that the Faroe Islands are known for their unpredictable and often extreme weather conditions. We should be ready for and can expect to have some stormy weather during our trip.

If the workshop fills up we will either using a 9-seater van, so there is plenty of space for everyone. I will kindly ask you to limit your luggage to one suitcase, one camera back, and possibly one carry-on computer back.

We'll usually eat breakfast and dinner at the hotel, while lunch will be improvised along the trip from gas-stations (the hot dogs comes highly recommended), grocery stores, and occasionally a restaurant.
